Composed by M. Dautremer for the Paris Conservatoire contest, Récit Et Impromptu is a piece for Bb Clarinet and Piano accompaniment. Dedicated to Auguste Périer, Professor at the Conservatoire, and inspired from Page d’Exil, this piece requires advanced skills to be executed perfectly.


Starting as a recitation and lasting approximately 6 minutes, the melodious piece features a Cadenza and is divided as per below:

1. Recitative

2. Moderato

3. Cadenza

4. Largo


Mastering breathing technique and the accidentals is quite important for this work, which will demonstrate all your abilities during a contest. The book feature score and parts.


M. Dautremer (1906-1978) was a French musician and pedagogue. He was director of the Conservatoire in Nancy and conductor for the Symphonic Orchestra of the city.
